Mikeyjp's Megane 250 - Progress Thread

Discussion in 'Megane Projects' started by Mikeyjp, Feb 16, 2017.

  1. Hello

Thought i better get one started, only been home for about 1hr and 30mins and already itching :tongueout:

This Megane is a "Full Fat" with Cup pack. It has the Leather Heated seats, Light pack, RS Monitor and loads of other stuff.

I have got it insured for £560 with 6years ncb, which was not to bad. Will be looking at some cheep mods to start with, will de-badge the rear, spray the exhaust surround, remeove the foam out of the air box and give it a good detail when i am off work next, weather permitting. Going forwards I will most likely get a highflow cat and exhaust system, intercooler and turbo cooler, might get and induction kit, and look at getting it remapped.

Will get some better pics up on Sunday

  2. Identical to mine except I have recaros and tomtom.

Done all the mods you want to do bar the intercooler and remap, which will be coming soon after I replace or repair my whining gearbox

Nice, OG is a great colour on the MK3.

  4. If you ever think about getting recaros I'll buyyour front seats in a heartbeat! :kissingheart:

  5. Love my seats :tongueout: , i would love the chance to sit in the leather Recaros see what they are like. How do you guys reverse these things lol, view is a bit limited. Had a play with the steering wheel adjustment, and was surprised that it went backwards and forwards too.

  6. I have got some exterior door handles on the way and an ITG panel filter, Have also treated myself to some new cleaning products to test out, will post some pics of what i have got when it turns up

Still getting used to the Meg, i keep pulling up and then going to grab the key out the ignition when i get out lol :tongueout: and keep forgetting to let the turbo cool down bit before i turn off. No idea how you are meant to see where you are reversing on these either.

You dont need to let the turbo cool down, They have a water cooler that runs when the ign is off if needed.

Or just take it easy for the last couple of miles

  8. @-Jamie- Thanks for that, i was not sure had done a bit of reading on here about it.

Car is booked in for a new windscreen start of march, anything i should be concerned about? Autoglass will be doing it

I have also got hold of some 2nd hand Tibor alloys for it. I really need to chill out for a bit now lol, save some money back up

  9. Managed to sneak out of work early today and took a some better pic of the Meg.

  10. I was not really planning on starting detailing it, but thought i would get a head start and do some more Tue or Wed, when i am off work

    Started with some Magifoam

Then started the Decontamination, used Tardis and got rid of about of the tar off the car, was caked in the stuff. Then Snow foamed it again, and clayed it

Will finish it off in the week

I had a Visitor turn up , @ryan197 Was kind enough to pop me some exterior door handles over. Loved the Meg, looks really good with the alloys polished up and lowered, Gave some good ideas for mine, and some things to tweak on it

  13. Oh silver Steev's on the black Megane RS ... Oh and the Tibor's you got are the best for 18" I think

  14. Well i am still busy cleaning the car(weather allowing). Have given it a once over with some PoorBoys SSR 2.5, Has done a pretty good job at getting rid of some skuffs and scratches, and removed the last of the crap from the paint work. After that i have given it a good polish with Autoglym SRP, and then a coat of Natty's Paste Wax, love this stuff nice easy on and off wax.

I have also picked up this lot to test out

I have used Gtechniq G1/G2 on the windscreen of my Clio and found it very good, can quite often complete a journey without having to turn my windscreen wipers on. But thought i would try a different one this time, will wait for some better weather before i try them out.

Have spent about 15hrs cleaning the outside so far, and thats without touching the wheels and still need to do trim and shut lines ect

  15. Lovely

  16. Morning all, have got Autoglass outside fitting a new windscreen  other one had an inch long crack in it, so thought i would get it sorted. I have been stood watching him, and was completely gobsmacked how easy the windscreen wiper arms came off, There was a lot of swearing and pulling to get my Clio ones off. should have chance later to try out the Gyeon Q2 View and anit fog, although since i have owned the car i am not sure anti fog is needed, with how quickly the climate control clears it any way

  17. Nice mate, plans sound good! I went from those seats to leather recaros and much prefer them, those tibor alloys werent off ebay by any chance where they? I seen four seperate ones available I was going to enquire about

  18. Hi, I went and and picked them up from Dawn, going to get the tyres off them and then get them refurb, having hard time deciding color, dont really want to go black

Made a start on the inside today, was stripping the boot out and struck it rich lol :tongueout:

Have also pulled the mats out and washed them, will most likely buy some new ones.

  21. Mad, I just bought an Oyster Grey 250 and have the similar things done. Bought new mats, (yellow stitching) and need an indicator lense also

  22. Right a quick update, I am getting hold of a steering wheel, gear knob + Gaiter, Handbrake + Gaiter, to have them re trimmed. I think i will be going with a red or maybe silver stitch, not sure yet. Is it possible to remove the top of the center console? had a quick look yesterday, but was unsure.
Will be placing an order soon for Vibratec lower mount, Yellow upper engine insert, 275 gearbox mount + M12 bolt, and when i work out which ones, will order some springs. Once all the turns up, will get it booked in for a service and get the bits fitted

Top of the centre console comes off quite easily, I swapped mine out for a Gloss black one from a 265 before i removed it completely when i put the CAE in.

  24. Car is booked in for the center box chop Wed, will let you know how it goes

Are the OEM Plastic boot protectors worth anything? mines going up the skip otherwise

  25. Just got back from the exhaust garage, sounds nice when you are giving it some beans, under normal load still sounds quite. I think i will eventually get a full system and sports cat, but the center box chop is a nice little mod to keep me going.

  26. Heard a lot of opinions on whether people think it's a lot louder than standard, what are your thoughts so far?

  27. Not really had chance to get it hot enough and have some open road, but on start up it has a nice deep burble, does not really sound any louder at normal rev/driving, but sounds better under load, and pops a bit more, but only the odd pop here and there

  28. Have tried out a few more of the Gyeon Products

Used the Gyeon Anti Fog, seems to be doing a good job, but not been all that cold since i used it, i can say when applying the stuff, less is more, and a really good buff up after helps. Have also done the windscreen today with Gyeon View, not had chance to see what its like yet, will keep you posted , and also used Gyeon Can Coat today, will keep an eye on this one too.
Finally got around to having a go at the wheels, they are pretty wrecked from pitting and brake dust ect, used Bilberry juice and gave them a quick coat of Can Coat, thought they came up quite well considering.

  29. You'll love cancoat [emoji4] stays on for almost half a year and is a lot easier to apply then a wax..

  30. Did something about them stupid tips on the window rubbers today, i used some of the black sealer type stuff, that you find around the door cards, to seal against the panel.

Also dressed the tyres, car looks much better now, almost looks a different color to when i started :tongueout:

Ordered some goodies the other day , will take pics when they turn up.

  33. Look forward to hearing your thoughts on what it rides like with these. A drop should improve the looks for sure.

  34. Can i ask what product you used to stick the tip of the window rubber down with?

  35. Hi, my next door neighbor sorted me a bit out, but i think if search for some like "car panel sealer roll strip" it comes up with the same sort of thing

Superglue does the job as well, I done mine 4 years ago and it hasnt moved since

  37. Thanks guys.

  38. Interested to see what you make of the Cooksport. Considering them also for my car but some of the roads i drive every day are poor.

Any thoughts on the PS4 yet?

  39. seem really good, grip well in the wet, not had any cold weather to test them in yet

  40. A couple more bits today, top engine mount insert and dogbone mount , been looking through what little paperwork i have with car, and was glad to see it had the gearbox oil and brake fluid done last year, so can cross that off my list now
