  3. Totally agree, unless you can exploit the advantage that Ohlins would give you its a waste of money.

    I'm looking forward to seeing the time.. and then seeing if a Clio can beat it.. lol
     
  4. So far in this thread I have seen the 225,R26, 250,265,275 and the R26r mentioned. That fact this is a Megane forum might have something to do with it :rolleyes:

    Thats whens its announced.

    This was from someone who spends a lot of time at the Ring developing suspension etc so i fully believe him

  7. According to the German board and a German Renault dealer, they will attack on 16th Juni 9 - 12 O'clock in the morning.....ring is closed in this time

    I don't know, All i know is it has been lapping sub 8, they might go for the ultimatum in June though

    Quite a few, Mclaren stuffed a 12C a couple years back at Tiergarten....

    I'm sure over the years there have been a few accidents.

    I'm still sure there will be a stripped, caged version to be announced. 275.R?

    Those of you saying "Why haven't they given it loads more power", think about it. Renault are known for creating cars that handle well, so why waste time and effort upgrading an already usable engine, when they can focus more on suspension and set up.


    A Renault the is quicker around the ring with less power than its rivals is far more impressive than a Renault that is quicker around the ring with more power than its rivals.
     
  13. I did wonder how much of the Seats time was down to raw straight line pace? The brand has never really appealed to me as a well sorted out corner slayer.

    Off topic it always amazes me that the F4R is now over 14 years old in design and, although heavily adapted, has jumped from 170bhp to 270. Wonder if the current megane will be its last gig.

    Shit the bed it is as well. That's quite a long time for an engine tbh.


    However, I recon the next gen Megane will have a different engine. The Clio now has a different engine and think the Megane will follow.
     
  15. This is exactly what I think, I'd rather spend a fraction of the price and improve my 250.. If I were to be worried about losing money, I wouldn't have bought a Renault :-)
     
  16. So thinking about it about more i read the french site...

    the spy photos taken showed front discs with ali bells, not mention of that and also we saw red harnesses and no sight of rear interior and no rear wiper. Also didnt that uk carbon company produce a carbon bonnet a while back they said was going to renaultsport? The french lot are sure an .R is coming.

    also it now says this on the bottom of renaults article...

    home in Belgium so it all nothing is available as an option except the color

    5 places


    - Mégane RS 275 Trophy Air14
    Limited to 50 samples. Only Switzerland, in partnership with the airshow Air14
    Recaro, Akrapovic, rims 19 "series
    5 places


    - Mégane RS Trophy 275 R
    Very limited series about 10 Switzerland
    2 places
    One that will record the Ring
     
  19. They are also talking about the renault video and how the akra has no cat but what looks like a sports cat identical to the supersprint one. Someone contacted them

  20. It's quite obvious they have already gone under 8s even with just a 265 with better tyres and loosing som weight. They bring out a new model to try and boost sales as they don't sell as well as the rivals.
     
  21. So the megane 275 trophy is going to be £34k, plus more for optional extras???
    thats Audi rs3, A45 amg and m3 territory!

    Also if it's not badged as a .R it will be worth half in 2-3 years time.

    Why will it? It will have the trophy badge on it. The Clio 182 trophy still holds it's value very well.

    Something won't be worth more menu because of a badge. It will be worth more money because of the spec.
     
  23. Look at the 225 trophy prices- it's had the "badge" and is worth nothing. Also 250/265 trophy prices are fallen a lot recently.
    The only model to hold its value is the .R (talking about the megane range) so unless it has the .R brand it's destined to be worth nothing in the near future....

    why hey would you spend £34k on a megane when you could have far superiors machinery at the same price?
     
  24. Well said, I've said it before, 35kish on a Renault Megane, much better out their for a lot less.
     
  25. Im not knocking the new megane and I'm sure it's very capable, but it's priced out its market and won't be special enough unless it's a .r version to command a high resale value...
     
  26. Why does everyone think it has to be a .R to have a high resale value. Like Will. Said, it's spec will ensure its future value is high
     
  27. Without the right badging it's just another run of the mill car unless it's a very limited series

    Not sure if the Megane Trophies are numbered but the Clio ones are.

    Also the Megane 225 F1s are numbered and I can only see them holding their value more in years to come.


    It's all about rarity.

    Megane Trophy's are numbered.

    New one will hold its value if they are specced up with the Ohlins/Speedlines.

    I can see a lot of RS dealers ordering them and speccing them right up and selling them off for 25k tbh.
     
  31. Its not just about rarity. It generally has to be appealing and rare.

    R26.R achieved a cult following after the likes of Evo sung its praises and likened it to a GT3RS!

The R26.R is different, ok it's just a roll cage , some plastic windows, carbon bonnet and carbon seats with harnesses, it's different and put everything in the same league and even cars 3 times it's value to shame, no one else built anything like it in the form of a hot hatch and that's what makes it so different , people will always want something that bit unique/ different from the norm that looks like every other car on the market, like the escort cosworth with its big daft wing on the back and the Clio V6 with its engine in the back, their different from the norm.

  34. Exactly, that was is the best in Renault from my point of view. You may have decent used car for quite small money. I feel sorry for 1st owner, as depreciation of value is high.
